Below you will find a simple guide for the password reset process when prompted at logon.
If you use a 4+ digit pin, face ID or fingerprint to log into your laptop, please refer to Section 2 of this guide and skip Section 1.
1. Password Reset
When your password has expired, logging into your laptop will display the following message “Your password has expired and must be changed.”
Select “OK”.
Now enter your current password, followed by your desired new password, then finally re-type your new password.
Press the “Enter” key or click “Submit” (On the right-hand side of the last password box).
When prompted with “Your password has been changed”, click “OK”.
You will now be able to log in using your new password.
2. Password Reset with Windows Hello enabled
When your password has expired, logging into your laptop using Windows hello will result in one of the following errors: “Your credentials could not be verified” followed by “Something went wrong and your PIN isn’t available”. Note, the error may vary slightly if you use face ID or fingerprint.
When you receive this error, click “Sign-in options” and select theicon. This will now prompt you for your regular password. (Same as your email password)
Once entered, you’ll see “Your password has expired and must be changed.”
Select “OK”.
Now enter your current password, followed by your desired new password, then finally re-type your new password.
Press the “Enter” key or click “Submit” (On the right-hand side of the last password box).
When prompted with “Your password has been changed”, click “OK”.
You will now be able to log in using your PIN, face ID or Fingerprint. If you wish to use your new password, click “Sign-in options” and select theicon.
