A guide to using the Microsoft Company Portal App

Microsoft Company Portal is a self-service Microsoft app that Handsfree IT pre-installs on devices enrolled in your 365 tenants mobile device management (MDM) service. (Microsoft Intune)


It gives you a central place to manage your device and access the tools you need — without having to contact IT. From the Company Portal, app you can:

  • Check your compliance status — see whether your device meets your organisation's security requirements
  • Self Service Install applications — browse and install software that your organisation has approved and published for you

How to Launch the company portal app


Company Portal is pre-installed on your device and can be launched in either of the following ways:

  • Taskbar — If Company Portal is pinned to your taskbar, simply click the icon to open it

  • Start Menu — Click the Start button, type Company Portal in the search bar, then click the app when it appears in the results

 



How to install an application on company portal


The example application we have used for the purposes of this guide is "Cisco VPN" - depending on the company you work for you will have an application catalogue specific to your company curated.



Step 1: Launch the company portal Application and select "Apps"



Step 2: Select the application you want to install


Click "Apps" on the left hand navigation and click on the application you want to install.




Step 3: Install the application


Click "Install" on the application you want to install


The install will keep you informed of the install status as the install progresses as well as notifications.





Once the install has completed you will be notified and the application should show "Installed"




 You're done! You should now be able to launch the application you've installed!

How to Check Device Compliance In Company Portal




Step 1: Launch the company portal Application and select "Devices"






Step 2: Select the device you are using




Step 3: Click "Check Access"



If the device is showing as non compliant the device will list the reasons why here. Additionally you can re-evaluate if the device is now compliant by clicking "Check Access"



An example of a non compliant device. Usually this will give you the reason it's non compliant. The Handsfree IT team have the ability to check this in the backend too. In some instances non compliance may be remediated by simply rebooting the device and re-checking compliance but if there are any issues please contact Handsfree IT.
