Swap out SSD/HDD from one micro PC to another

Description of Problem


This guide will cover how to swap one SSD from one Micro PC to another.


TABLE OF CONTENTS


1. Open and take out old SSD


Step 1: Unscrew Side And Push The Top Open

Unscrew the side of the case (highlighted below in the red box), and then prepare to open the device by pushing the top of the device in the direction of the arrows.


Step 2: Open Up The Device

Once the device is open, you'll see a cradle that houses the SSD or HDD. This is usually blue with the drive inside varying in colour.


Step 3: Take Out The Drive

Push in the two tabs shown on the left, then push the whole cradle to the right while pushing. You'll know when it comes out as you'll here a small click and the black mark on the top of the cradle will move to the left, as you've moved the cradle to the right.

2. Swap in new SSD


Step 1: Install The New Drive Into The Cradle

The Micro PC should now be empty and look similar to the below. With the new drive, you'll need to ensure it's in the cradle so that it sits correctly.




Step 2: Install The New Drive

Place the drive in the micro PC and ensure the tab at the top is lined up as shown below. Make sure it sits flat for an easy installation.



Finally, push the drive to the left and it should make a firm clicking sound. If the tab at the top is now aligned as shown below, it should be installed correctly.


Step 3: Close The Device

Place the lid back on top, slide it in the opposite direction it came off. Screw up the side and then you're done! You should now be able to turn the device on and all your data from the old device will now be on the new Micro PC.
